By Iste S. Leopoldo
Friday, May 27, 2011

AFTER Bohol successfully hosted the First Panglao Triathlon, the island will next host the Timex 226, an Ironman distance race, on Dec. 3 and 4.

The race will feature a 3.8-km swim, 180-km bike and a 42-km run covering the mostly the third district area of Bohol.

“Bohol is the ideal venue for this event because the participants can also enjoy the scenic view, the beach and the road is good for cycling,” organizer Raul Cauevas.

He also considers the race as the revival of holding Ironman distance races, which they last held 10 years ago in Batangas.

With the resurgence of triathlon in the country, organizers are expecting to attract a lot of participants after the Panglao Triathlon drew over 100 triathltes.

Cebu’s top triathletes Lohriz Echavez and Noy Jopson have expressed their intent to join the race.
